From the Desk of our PTO President, Bill Chiulli

Dear Cougar Community,
What a glowingly fabulous evening we had Friday night! I can’t recall the last time I saw so many smiling faces and laughing children dancing the night away. I believe our first Glow On Family Fun Night was a success and I think it is safe to say a tradition could be born. The most rewarding part of being involved in our PTO events is seeing the positive effect that it has on our children and on our community.
I want to thank each and every parent!
Your participation made this event a success.
2016GlowOn 1There are a few people that deserve a special “Thank You!”. First and foremost – Mindy McCrary, Jennifer Underwood, Crystal Mathews and Carlo Shaw. Without your leadership, direction, and vision we would not have enjoyed successful events such as Glow Fest. Jackie Gutierrez and Maya Ellison, thank you for running our registration and raffle table. We had a line a mile long the whole night and you handled it like champions with great big smiles on your faces! Tricia Mazzarella, thank you for always coming and documenting our events for the yearbook and for all the help you offer managing our Key Club volunteers. For all of our teachers, especially Mrs. Torrilhon, Mr. Swain, and Ms. Schembri and to any other teachers I missed in the craziness, thank you for being a part of our event. Thank you to Mr. Allen for always giving us excellent support and the logistical tools necessary to bring our events to life…..and you make our setup and cleanup so easy! Finally, to our number one house DJ, Mr. Dave Dundas – the man who makes all of our events rock! No event would come to life without the heartbeat of the base that thumps from your speakers and keeps our events moving. Thank you for being the heart of our events. To the countless people that I might have accidentally missed, thank you for making our children’s experience at Desert Cove so special.

2016GlowOn 2

As we move closer to the end of the school year, I am reminded that we again face the inevitable fact that some of our parent volunteers will be moving on from the PTO as their children move on from Desert Cove. While it saddens me to say goodbye to these folks, it gives us an opportunity to welcome new parents to be a part of the PTO Team. With that said, we will have two key roles opening up on our board this year and we are looking for individuals interested in becoming a part of our winning team. Our meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month at 6PM in the library. As we start our planning for next year, we welcome and encourage all parents to attend our next meeting this Tuesday, March 8. This is the perfect time to join if you are interested in being a part of the team that has the sole goal of enhancing our children’s educational experience! Free Childcare is provided as well as pizza. I want to again thank our wonderful Desert Cove Cougar Community for making our events so special and memorable. I feel blessed and lucky to be able to say that I am a member of such a wonderful community! I hope to see everyone at Muffins for Moms this Friday March 11th from 7:00-7:45 in the multi-purpose room.

Sincerely,

Bill Chiulli
President
